How we can help

A friendly, reliable, non-medical companionship service

Perfect for older adults who would benefit from company, conversation, and a helping hand with everyday outings.

Regular companionship visits

A familiar face who turns up when they say they will, for conversation, a cup of tea and genuine company.

Shopping trips and errands

The weekly shop, the post office, picking up a prescription — done together, or done for them.

GP and hospital appointments

Transport to appointments, a calm presence in the waiting room, and help remembering what was said.

Walks, outings and coffee trips

A turn around the park, a trip to a favourite café, or an afternoon somewhere they have been missing.

Light household help

The washing up, a load of laundry, a tidy round — small things that keep home feeling comfortable.

Welfare checks and family reassurance

A check-in visit and an honest update afterwards, so you know how they really are.

Respite visits for family carers

Time for you to rest, work or simply have an afternoon back, knowing they are in good hands.

What families say

Kind words from the families we help

Companionship is personal, so the best measure of our work is what families tell us afterwards.

Mum looks forward to her visits all week. It is not just the shopping — it is having someone to talk to who actually listens.
PLACEHOLDER — family member Replace with a real quote
I live two hours away and used to worry constantly. Knowing someone reliable checks in has taken an enormous weight off me.
PLACEHOLDER — daughter Replace with a real quote
The same companion comes each time, which matters a great deal to Dad. They have become genuinely good friends.

Who it’s for

Company, conversation, and a helping hand

Good Company Companions is a non-medical service. We do not provide nursing, personal care or medication support — what we provide is the part that is often missing: someone to talk to, someone to go out with, and someone family can rely on.

Most of the people we visit are older adults living independently at home, who are simply on their own more than anyone would like. Some see us weekly. Some see us most days. We fit around what actually helps.

Every arrangement starts with a free, no-obligation consultation, by phone or in person, so we can match the right companion to the right person.

  • This is a good fit if…

  • They are spending long stretches of the day alone
  • Getting to appointments has become difficult
  • They have stopped going out as much as they used to
  • You live far away and worry between visits
  • You are caring for them yourself and need a break

STEP TWO

Questions

Things families usually ask

If your question is not here, call us — we are happy to talk it through with no obligation.

Will it be the same companion each time?

Yes, wherever possible. Familiarity is most of the value, so we match one companion to each person and keep them consistent. If your regular companion is unwell or on holiday, we will let you know in advance and introduce the cover person properly rather than sending a stranger.

Is this the same as a home care service?

No. We are a non-medical companionship service. We do not provide nursing, personal care such as washing or dressing, or help with medication.

What we do provide is company, conversation, transport to appointments, help with shopping and errands, and light household tasks. Many families use us alongside a separate care provider.

How long is a typical visit?

Most visits are two to four hours, which is long enough to do something real rather than just look in. Some people see us once a week; others most days. We will suggest what we think helps at the consultation, but the pattern is yours to choose.

Are your staff checked?

Every companion holds an enhanced DBS check before they visit anyone, and we take up references. Our company has over 20 years of experience providing care in West Yorkshire.

What if we need to cancel a visit?

Just let us know as early as you can. We ask for PLACEHOLDER hours' notice where possible so the companion can plan their day, but we understand that health and circumstances change at short notice.

Can you help if we live far away?

That is one of the most common reasons families call us. After visits we can give you an honest update on how your relative seemed, so distance does not mean guesswork. Many of the people who arrange visits with us live in a different part of the country entirely.

How do we get started?

Call 07999 974208 or email goodcompanions@outlook.com. We arrange a free, no-obligation consultation by phone or in person, then match a companion and agree the visits that suit. There is nothing to sign before you have spoken to us.
